HDL WORKS PROVIDES A FREE HDL TEXT EDITOR
December 2004. HDL Works announced that it provides its HDL text editor for
free.
HDL Works provides its high end text editor "Scriptum" for free.
This editor is also an integrated part of HDL Works' other tools,
"EASE" and "HDL Companion".
About Scriptum
Scriptum is a text editor focused at HDL design, running on Windows,
Linux and Solaris. Using a multiple document window interface combined
with tab pages it offers a slick environment to edit VHDL, Verilog and
other language files. Even on extremely large files Scriptum offers
exceptionally fast editing capabilities. Design language, HDL templates
and the user interface are fully customizable to create a design environment
that meets the user's needs.
This saves many, many hours to get an understanding of any existing HDL code. Incomplete
designs and design code with syntax errors is accepted by HDL Companion, so design information
can be gathered without being forced to debug that unknown erroneous code first.
Features, language support and 3rd Party Interfacing:
Scriptum contains all features one can expect from a professional text
editor. The user can profit from syntax color highlighting for all
supported languages, HDL code templates, identifier repeat, block
and column selections, selection indenting / de-indenting, selection
commenting / un-commenting, line numbering, tabs and spaces conversion,
case conversion and white space viewer.
Supported languages are: Verilog, VHDL, Tcl, SystemC, Perl, Java, Edif
and C, while additional languages can be added using the Scriptum
configuration files.
Scriptum has a user configurable Tcl based interface that supports
tools from all major EDA vendors.
"Now all HDL designers can benefit from an HDL optimized text editor
providing a smooth transition when upgrading to even more powerful
design tools like EASE and HDL Companion" said Willem Gruter,
President and CEO of HDL Works.
Availability
Scriptum is available immediately from HDL Works' website www.hdlworks.com.
